Special Re-Dedication hymn
written by Jim Pearce of Tencreek
St Veep on the hill-top, unravaged by time,
It peeps through the tree-tops, this beautiful shrine;
Through many a century, its walls have endured,
Its pillars so stately, and arches secure.
O Father first guiding, the saints to this site,
Thy Temple here founding, revealing Thy Light,
Here served Thee unwav’ring, Thy Way boldly trod;
May we too, unfalt’ring, walk humbly with God.
From tower embattled, all ivied and gray,
Our virgin bells herald this blest happy day,
From inland to seaboard, twixt earth and blue sky,
Their message soars heavenward to Jesus on high.
There’s peace and refreshment for weary souls here,
If truly repentant with faith they draw near;
From Chalice we treasure, He pleads us to sup
His life in full measure from age-hallowed cup.
The beeches like sentries their long virgil keep
O’er “Garden of Mem’ries where dear ones they sleep
One day, too, the Saviour will call us to rest,
Uniting us ever with those we love best.
Almighty, unchanging, most merciful Lord,
All-living, forgiving, through ages adored;
To-day congregated, to Thee now we raise,
For Church dedicated, thanksgiving and praise. Amen
